his study is the second in a series for Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It utilizes a number of approaches and sources--including such primary materials as manuscript schedules for the federal population and agricultural censuses, pre-emption and homestead applications, and oral interviews--to gather information about the study area and determine if and how it should be protected.
